Woman to Woman

Every woman carries with her the strengths and weaknesses of her background. She carries the legacy of her past into all her relationships - family, business and church. This program will show participants how to free themselves from the past and focus on the future. It will provide strategies and skills needed to make positive and lasting changes in relationships. Session Information: The Arena of Healing The aim of this session is to briefly cover the Four Interrelated Areas of Recovery, to introduce the mind and heart attitudes necessary for growth and change to occur, and to introduce the Arena of Healing which provides a visual image to help participants identify the healing process. Functional and Dysfunctional Family Dynamics This session aims to outline functional and dysfunctional family dynamics, to assist participants in understanding the significant impact of the Family of Origin in shaping behaviour and attitudes, and to describe how the family becomes dysfunctional when it lacks the skills to cope with life's challenges. Coping Strategies of the Child and Adult The aim of this session is to describe coping behaviours in the dysfunctional family, to identify a role/roles participants may have used in the family of origin, to enable participants to identify coping behaviours they use in current relationships and to describe learned and unhealthy ways of communicating. Denial and Anger This session aims to explain the meaning of denial and describe the ways it manifests itself, to identify anger as a secondary emotion and explain its relevance to the experience of grief, to identify the effects of repressing anger, to describe the sources of anger and give guidelines for recognising each of them, to describe the skills required for managing conflict and to outline the issues pertaining to domestic violence. Rebuilding after Grief and Loss The aim of this session is to develop awareness that grieving is a necessary part of the healing process, to describe the results of unresolved grief, to outline the variety of circumstances in which people can experience loss, to explain the outcome of accumulated loss, to describe the elements of grief, to develop awareness of how to give and get support and to focus on embracing life in the midst of challenge. The Influence of Shame The aim of this session is to explain the difference between shame and guilt, to describe the factors that lead to shame, to describe the range of reactions to shaming messages, to explain the ways that shame influences relationships and to explain ways to find healing from shame. Overcoming Co-dependency The aim of this session is to explain the spiritual roots of co-dependency, the effect of co-dependency on family dynamics, and how co-dependency affects communication. It covers the effect of fear of rejection, illustrates healthy relationships and the role of boundaries, and explains how to find healing from co-dependency. Sexuality and Intimacy This session aims to increase awareness of personal attitudes and values relating to sexuality, and examines the influence of culture, media, relationship experiences and religion in shaping attitudes to sexuality. It also examines misbeliefs surrounding women and sexual desire, describes the spiritual nature of sex and sexual imprinting, describes Jesus' view of women and explains the need to develop a healthy view of sexuality and how and where to find healing from past negative experiences. Forgiveness - Letting Go The aim of this session is to identify forgiveness as a necessary process in the healing journey and describes the personal ramifications of not forgiving. It gives an explanation of the meaning of forgiveness and its impact on relationships, and describes the way Jesus Christ modelled forgiveness. Participants also answer 'The Forgiveness Self Test'. Stepping into the Future This session aims to highlight the way God's grace can do amazing things in our lives. It teaches the value of perseverance, explains the need to anchor one's life in Christ, encourages participants to pursue their dreams by looking at a next step and encourages the value of enriching the lives of others - a future focus "where to from here?
Door of Hope

An encouraging and supportive program for women survivors of sexual abuse. In an environment of love, acceptance and confidentiality, participants will begin to develop new strategies for living, and find healing from the struggles of life. It brings women out of emotional isolation and addresses the life struggles they face. The issues explored include powerlessness and empowerment, aspects of shame and guilt, sexual healing and healthy sexuality, being loved, restoration of trust and how to build positive relationships. Session Information: The Area of Healing The aim of this session is to explain the meaning of the term "recovery" as used in this context, to briefly explain the Four Interrelated Areas of Recovery, to introduce participants to the mind and heart attitudes necessary for growth and change to occur, and to introduce the Arena of Healing which provides a visual image to help participants identify the healing process. What is Abuse? This session aims to define and discuss sexual abuse and the different forms of denial, as well as identify the symptoms of sexual abuse that affect a women functioning as a healthy adult. Stages of Abuse The aim of this session is to introduce the concept of the Family of Origin; to provide an overview of the functional/dysfunctional family continuum; to discuss how abuse can occur including the stages of abuse; home life factors which can contribute to abuse; statistics regarding perpetrators of abuse, as well as identify some potential feelings of an abused child. Shame This session aims to differentiate between guilt and shame, to visualise the differences between guilt and shame and their outcomes, to familiarise the women with common characteristics of adults shamed in childhood, to identify the possible roots to shame and possible responses to them, and finally to discuss the issue of healing from shame. Contempt This session discusses the issue of contempt and its characteristics, gives an overview of contempt and how it works, and aims to challenge and change issues of self-contempt. Betrayal and Powerlessness In this session women will learn to define what betrayal is, and to list the common factors contributing to the feeling of betrayal. Powerlessness is introduced and how it relates to abuse, and hope is provided to participants by reminding them that Jesus died to bring liberation. Ambivalence The aim of this session is to define and explain ambivalence, to discuss how ambivalence can manifest in one's life, to discuss how ambivalence can devastate one's relationships with others including God, and to introduce the concept of body awareness. Defence Mechanisms and Survival The aim of this session is to discuss self-protective behaviours, defence mechanisms and protective shields and how they can operate in one's life; to introduce participants to the Johari Window, and to challange and encourage participants to take responsibility by making healthy responses to life's situations. The Way Through This session deals with the issues surrounding repentence and penance. It seeks to highlight some areas where participants might get 'stuck' and offers some possible solutions to them. It discusses the issues involved in the healing process. Aspects of Love This session defines love - what it is and what it is not. It discusses forgiveness as an aspect of love, and establishes the concept of real love - God's love. Participants are offered instruction on healing for a wounded sexuality through the Spirit of Virginity teaching.
Healthy Lifestyle

Healthy Lifestyle is a ten-session program for women of any age who are seeking to unlock their physical and spiritual potential. The program empowers and motivates women to be proactive, have fun, learn about their health and explore the possibilities of a more active lifestyle. Participants are helped in establishing a healthier lifestyle through a physical activity component in addition to the normal teaching and small group time. Developed by health professionals, and peer reviewed by experts in the field. Program Co-ordinator The co-ordinator of Healthy Lifestyle should possess a background tertiary or higher education qualification from a mainstream institution in a health related discipline. This may include nursing, health education, psychology, physiotherapy, nutrition or personal training. Facilitators In addition to normal Lifekeys training requirements facilitators must have a current lifestyle that is consistent with the material in the program and therefore be effective models to participants. Care should be taken to protect participants from the possibility of facilitators using the program to further their own healthy philosophy agendas. Session Information: More than a Lifestyle - Embracing Health This session introduces the holistic health concept and the interconnection between mind, body and spirit. It explains the stages of behavioural change and the progression through them, and it inspires and encourages for the journey ahead. Getting into Physical Activity This session introduces the definitions, types and intensities of physical activity; it explains the benefits of being physically active and why; it explains the physcial activity recommendations for good health in adults, and motivates participants to achieve these; and finally it introduces the Borg Scale. Nutrition - Fuel for the Body The aim of this session is to explain the benefits of good nutrition, and the importance of disease prevention; to explain the daily recommended dietary intake requirements for women of different ages and the reasons why; to explain macro and micro nutrients, and to instruct on how to read nutrition labels. Introduction to Strength Training The aim of this session is to explain and define the types of strength training including fitball principles; to explain the benefits of strength training including bone mineral density changes over the life span; to teach safe and confident application of strength training variables. Eating for Reasons other than Hunger This session defines and explores emotional eating, what causes it and what satisfies it. It explains how to determine if you are an emotional eater and identifies the possible triggers. It teaches techniques to utilise while attempting to break the emotional eating cycle, and lastly it provides practical tools and hope for change. Weight Management This sessions explains the physiology of weight gain, disperses myths on weight loss procedures and fad diets, and describes the mechanism behind weight loss. It shows how to set health rather than weight loss goals, and it explains the benefits of weight loss and the dangers of weight gain. Because You're Worth it! This session explores the basis of perceptions of beauty and self. It explains the relevance of body image and self-esteem to our health, providing practical help in improving body image and self-esteem, and explains the importance and 'how to' of self-care. When the Going Gets Tough This session aims to provide an understanding of the importance of motivation. It explains the different forms of motivation that may be used, and it provides practical tools to get back on track when goals are missed. Essential Women's Health Issues This session aims to introduce the health wheel as a useful assessment tool for measurement of holistic health; to inform women in the area of preventative health care; to highlight the significance of mental health and the impact of stress and depression; discuss spiritual health, increase awareness of it and how to keep a healthy spirit. The Journey Ahead The teaching in this session consists of reviewing previous sessions in acknowledgement of how far participants have come, and it concentrates on providing foundational advice for the journey ahead and maintenance of a healthy lifestyle.
Understanding your Valiant Man

Many women want to understand the men in their lives. Understanding Your Valiant Man has been developed for women; a companion program to the Valiant Man program which is designed to provide men with an empowering experience of sexual discipleship. This program allows the women to see and understand the journey the men involved in the program are taking. Session Information: A Vision for Manhood The aim of this session is to plant the seeds of vision for a better future, a vision for Valiant Manhood, while undertaking a rigorous moral inventory of current reality. The Arena of Healing The aim of this session is to assist women in understanding the attitudes of mind and heart necessary for growth and change to occur. It introduces the Arena of Healing and how adopting these attitudes can have a positive affect on their relationships with men. The Sexual Man The aim of this session is to understand and appreciate the physiological differences in men and women, particularly in the sexual arena; to give an understanding of the struggle men face in a highly sexualised environment; explore ways that both men and women can enhance their sexual discipleship; provide participants with information about the construction of male sexuality with a view to helping men normalise their experience of their own sexuality; and to help the women begin to appreciate the issues involved for men successfully managing male sexuality. The Origin, Power and Purpose of Sex The aim of this session is to provide women with an opportunity to listen to the theology of sex, as men are introduced to the deepest issues of their sexuality. This goes beyond biology and psychology to the character of God and His ultimate purpose. It also provides women with an opportunity to see how the purposes of God apply to their own sexuality and need for intimacy. The Cycle of Addiction The aim of this session is to understand the cycle of addiction and explain it from a behavioural and bio-chemical point of view; to be alert to issues of shame and guilt; to note how this may be a factor in shaping our attitudes to our sexuality; and to understand how sex is intended to be a bonding experience The Understanding Man This session aims to develop awareness that fear and worry are normal emotions and to model, process and practice strategies that assist in minimising anxious, frightened feelings and behaviours. Retraining Your Brain This session teaches the biological, emotional and spiritual processes involved in renewing the mind. It provides an understanding of the intentional work that the men are undertaking in order to be more healthy and loving to the women in their world. It assists women to understand that sexual purity is not a male only issue and provides insight into the way our culture is reshaping and defining the sexuality of women. It provides an understanding of how thought processes are established in the brain with a view to learning a workable process for bringing thoughts under control. Taking a Stand The aim of this session to to assist women to understand the impact of sexually explicit material, to explore issues relating to intimacy, and to learn how to support men in the course as they receive ministry and consecrate themselves. The women, like the men, will be encouraged to take a stand against shame, fantasy, pornography and inappropriate sexual behaviours. Guarding Your Heart The aim of this session is to understand the commitment the men are making to "nourish" and "cherish" a wife, to cultivate an attitude of thankfulness for what a partner is, rather than what he is not, to understand that submission is not about domination but of mutual care and love, and to receive healing prayer. For Women Only The aim of this session is to provide a brief look at the key issues of female sexuality and suggest resources for accessing more detailed information, to underline the miracle of creation and the spiritual aspects of intimacy, to address sexuality in the bedroom and the art of love making, and to encourage women to understand their own physiology.
